The Robert A. WELCH Foundation Distinguished University Chair in Chemistry
We are seeking candidates at the Professor or Associate Professor level, with expertise and experience in the broad area of Structural Biology, with a specific interest in its application to drug discovery. Research areas that encompass chemical or structural (X-ray, NMR or cryo-EM) analysis of macromolecular complexes, structure-based drug design or chemical biology will be considered. In addition to the Robert A. Welch Distinguished University Chair, significant resources from the UT STARs fund and the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas (CPRIT) have been successfully obtained for qualified candidates to enhance the recruitment package.

The Greehey Children’s Cancer Research Institute (GCCRI) at the University of Texas Health Science Center – San Antonio is looking for an outstanding postdoctoral fellow to work in the laboratory of Yuzuru Shiio, M.D., Ph.D.
We are seeking highly motivated candidates who have a strong background in molecular cell biology, particularly characterization of protein functions using cell culture, immunoblotting, immunoprecipitation, and immunofluorescence, and who have high-quality research publications. Employing a combination of quantitative proteomics technology and standard molecular cell biology approaches, our laboratory works on three NIH-funded projects: 1) the biological functions of the VHL-HIF pathway, 2) secreted mediators of cellular senescence, and 3) proteins secreted from cancer cells as cancer biomarkers. Please see the Shiio webpage at http://ccri.uthscsa.edu/YShiio.asp for further information about our work.
The successful candidate will receive extensive training on proteomics-based discovery (protein expression profiling and protein-protein interaction screens) and follow-up of proteomic findings (molecular cell biological characterization of protein functions).
Candidates should express their interest in the position by email and should include their career goals, research experience and interests, curriculum vitae with publication record, and contact information for three references. Please send an email of interest to shiio@uthscsa.edu for consideration.
There are no research openings at this time.
All faculty, postdoctoral fellow, and research appointments are designated as security sensitive positions. The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio is an Equal Employment Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
